The Dialogue of Unconscious: The Analytical Dialogue Relationship and the Use of Self
A Workshop with Anthony L. Bass, PhD

Dr. Anthony Bass will explore the nature of the psychoanalytic relationship in depth, using Ferenczi’s concept of a “dialogue of unconscious.” Through workshop participants sharing the experiences of difficult moments in clinical processes, the unconscious dimensions of psychoanalytic relating are explored and examined in depth. Special challenges and opportunity for deepening the analytical process with patients who evoke intense involvement and emotional reactions will be focused on from the relational perspectives.

Internationally known, Dr. Anthony Bass is an Associate Professor and Supervising Analyst at New York University Postdoctoral Program. He is also on the faculty of many training institutes, including the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, the NIP, and the Stephen Mitchell Center for Relational Studies, where he is a founding director and President. He is Editor in chief of Psychoanalytic Dialogues: the International Journal of Relational Perspectives, and a founding director of the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
